The Port of Barcelona welcomed a delegation from Shanghai on Tuesday, resulting in the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement aimed at enhancing collaboration between the two ports. The agreement, signed by key officials including Jose Alberto Carbonell of the Port of Barcelona and Xiao Hui of the Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission, establishes a sister ports relationship. It focuses on improving digitalization, security, green port development, alternative fuels, intermodality, and sustainable maritime corridors between the Far East and the Mediterranean. This visit follows a preliminary agreement made in July 2025 and a technical visit in September 2025, further solidifying Barcelona's
role as a Euro-Mediterranean logistics hub.
